The much anticipated Christmas Day Finals rematch lived up to the hype and proved to be one of the best games of the year as the Lakers held off the C’s in the end thanks largely to the efforts of Pau Gasol. Since then the teams have gone in different directions with the Lake Show going losing only once but the C’s tallying seven losses. They can not seem to get bench and the starters playing well on the same day. Also logging big minutes are ‘The Big Three’ which could prove to be costly come playoff time because while the two big names have been drawing all of the attention, quietly the best team in the league could be the Cleveland Cavaliers who are tied for the Lakers for the best record at 29-6, undefeated at home, and have one of the two best players on the planet playing at his highest level. Most importantly, they are flying under the radar and taking care of their business. Perhaps instead of the focusing on the Feb 5th rematch between the L & C’s , the focus should shift to Jan 19th and Feb 8th, as those may be the two games that decide home court in this years finals. Is it too early to diagnose the Celtics? Is Cleveland for real? Will anyone challenge the Lakers in the West? Let us know here and in the NBA chat rooms.

Last time I checked regular season means nodda. Cavs are a good team so is Orlando and Boston. Who cares about Marc Steins rankings anyway....beat a team in June and then you can talk! (see Boston and LA). Of course didn't Shaq play for Orlando at one time?? and how did their June turn out then?? (see Houston and Dwight Howards Baby Photo's). Oh wait and the Cavs didnt they have a fun June a couple of years ago?? (See San Antonio and pictures of MJ hitting sick jumpers ). Stop hating on LA because their June last season wasnt good either! I am a lifelong Lakers fan and our banners say NBA CHAMPS on them not preseason champs or most consecutive first round draft picks or Champs east of the Mississippi but north of Kentucky WIN ONE then you get the chance to speak!
2 THINGS.....(1) Orlando is a very good ball club right now and look great here in the regular season and the league has been put on notice that they are one of the top teams but.......the reason why they don't command the respect (accept stein) of teams like the Lakers, Celtics and Cavs is because collectively that roster hasn't won anything past the regular season, not even sure if they have a go to guy? (2) About Cleveland bringing to D to LA and shutting Kobe down at Staples sounds a bit like crab dribble talk....and Kobe doesn't need to score over 20 a night to win anymore. LA will win that game at Staples on the 19th (a) the Cav's haven't shown they are as dominant on the road as they are at home "fact" (b) they haven't been beaten up on the elite teams this year yet and until they do it doesn't seem they will go into Staples and beat the best team in the league (one notible win vs. boston but not nearly as immpressive to stop a team on a 19-game win streak than kicking a slumping team when they are already down). Lakers, Cavs, Celtics, Magic and Spurs...should be a great post-season any of these teams can get it done. GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude who cares about Orlando.......they beat a poor poor team last night.....Yea their good i'll give them that...but they are way to young and not experienced at all....they got some real big games coming up that mean alot for them....lets see how they handle their selves under pressure....you have to remember they have not really played anybody but the lakers....and have not played anyone with a top ranked Def yet....Yes they are a good team but there is no way they shoot like they did last night against Cleveland or Boston.....when you play against Defensive minded teams your scoring will go down exspecially against the Cavs who are not allowing more than 88 pts per game on avg. We will see where your magic stand by the end of this month.....
The Lakers game isn't as important to me, the Cavs have to win 3 series before they would see the Lakers, and it's no guarantee they'll see them at all. The Orlando game is the one I'm looking forward to, and then the rematch with the Celtics in their house.
Because odds are the Cavs will see one of both of them in the playoffs depending on what seed they finally get.
A win would be good but only because it's the start of their west coast trip and it would be good to get off to a good start.
well im preety ecstatic! the magic are begining to get the recognition that we deserve we have beat los angeles along with plenty of the the top 15 then we lost to boston early in the season but thats when we had some major injuries to our back court and since getting a bit more heathy we have won 13 of the last 15! the cavs are on our list to hopefully beat coming up as long with los angeles again and hopefully redemption against boston so we will see how good we really are pretty soon! GO MAGIC!!!!!
cleveland has one injury.. the lakers have 4 (odom, vujacic, farmar and walton)... and it has nothing to do LakersNBAChampions with the east or west wit the lakers, it is a fact that they play down to the teams they play... now if they were losing to the top teams out east then it would be different but they already beat one of the top teams in the east in the celtics... it doesnt worry me that the lakers lost to the heat and pacers or even the pistons... it should worry you that the cavs are just 8-5 against teams .500 or better because that will be a problem come playoff time...
Cleveland will hit a slump how much do you get paid to make expert opions...stat facts dude....yes they will not win every game....be here mon the 19th after the game i am sure we will have some great discussions then o wait i forgot lakers don't play till June and they are injured...well Cavs play every night and play hard and play to win every game hands down and they have injuries too
Cavs do to the Lakers what the Lakers did to Boston with a win on the 19th......thats what makes this game so interesting....its a big game every game is a big game when you play to win...The Lakers and Boston and their fans try to down play games to not make a deal out of them when they lose...FACT...Big Game on the 19th
who cares about the #1 ranking.........its all about no respect for the best team in the NBA right now......Cleveland is dominating there opposition winning games they know they are suppose to win besides one.....the Lakers struggle against the East and have all season...look at what the pacers do to them the Pacers come on...if you are #1 you don't lose or barely win to sub par opposition.....Respe ct the Cavs Laker fans they are the REAL DEAL OF THE NBA...choose to RESPECT THEM NOW or LATER which ever one does not make you cry just know they are a team to fear every night of the NBA Season....Reg or Playoffs...
against teams in the top 15 (of these rankings) the cavs are 8-4 (2-4 on the road) while the lakers are 14-4 (6-2 on the road)...
