Top seeds fly above the fray while trenches taking their toll

It appears the Cavs and Lakers are still on a collision course as the Heavyweights have taken few punches in the first round. Cleveland polished the aging Pistons in 4 games that were less intense than the Cavalier practices, solidifying the Pistons place as the ‘Atlanta Braves of the NBA’ with 1 title to show for 6 Easter Finals appearances. Meanwhile the Lakers stumbled in game 3 at Utah as Kobe had his worst shooting game in almost a decade but turned in the exact reciprocal performance in game 4 en route to droppin’ 38 on the Jazz in an easy Laker win and attempt to close them out in game 5 in LA. Series of the playoffs continues to be the C’s and Bulls, where two of the four games have gone into overtime and the “Ticketless” Celtics let the commanding series lead get away from them in game 4 as they could not seem to foul the Bulls before Gordon got off a 3 with :09 to play, and the C’s eventually lost in double OT. The scene shifts back to Boston in a series that has changed momentum three times in four games. If the Celtics can’t stave off the baby Bulls, given that their chances of getting back to the Finals next year diminish with another year of age tacked on the nucleus, they will go down as classic ‘one hit wonders’. Speaking of an aging nucleus, the recent strength of the dollar will not be a welcome site as all of the Spurs return to their respective countries later this week. When the Mavericks finish sending them home there will much discussion on dismantling the old Fiat. We’re still waiting to gauge in the Nuggets worthy of their number two seed as they move on to game four against Nawlins’. A gritty comeback that was more the Hornets going to sleep than Denver taking it from them, but all of the drama of those curtail game 4’s will be on display Tuesday. Thus far, the biggest disappointment has been the Magic who was another last second shot away from an eventual vacation but held on for a critical road win and even the series with Philly at 2. The absence of Nelson is really being felt and teams with good guards will five the Magic huge problems as they attempt to move forward but they have all they can handle right now in the tightest of 3-6 matchups. Due to the potency of the Cavs the forgotten series of the Hawks/Heat has be portrayed as the next doormat for the NBA’s best record, but word to the wise, if Cleveland goes too much into vacation mode as they wait for their next opponent they may get caught with their gloves down in game one, round one.

from what i can tell our Lakers get their complacency from their fans. We wont sweep Houston, they are a great defensive team
they went 21-8 after the All Star Break Key Win: Cleveland @Houston 99-78. Yes, we swept them this year but only 2 of those games were really with
the team we will be playing against in the playoffs(TMAC OUT). The game we won in Houston was close the whole way the Rockets were winning until 6 mins left in 4th.
Lakers In 6!

Obviously, the Bulls couldn't take care of the ball and hold on to an 11 pt lead . . . They lost due to inexperience, and loss of poise, but KG woofin on the sideline, and the ridiculous, gutless foul by Rondo were horrendous, and just worsens my opinion of the dirty, trashtalkin Celtics. Even if you don't like Miller, no one deserves that.

And for those of you saying that Rondo's foul was a hard foul, y'all need to go watch the replay of Kendrick Perkins being raped by Hinrich. Guy literally jumped and humped Perkins in the 4th quarter. Get real.

I bet all of you thought Derrick Rose really got fouled when he tripped over his own feet twice, too.

C's shutting it down on Thursday night!!! i dont like making predictions but i say the C's come out an spank dat #### royal in Chi-town on Thursday...Ray Ray should be rested since "fouling out"...my only worry is which Pierce will show up??? game 3 or game 4 Pierce??? only thing im bummed about is C's missed a GOLDEN opportunity to sweep and get some NEEDED rest since Orl is in a dogfight with Phi...oh well, at least they should not be rusty

GO CELTICS!!!

And btw................. ...................t hat was a flagrant, no doubt in my mind. It would have been called in early April.

I can't believe any person watching this game would say that Rondo was going for the ball on that last play. His shoulder angle wasn't anywhere NEAR where it should have been in order to make a play on the ball. Rondo wasn't even LOOKING at the ball. If you try to block a shot don't you need to see where the ball is? The fact of the matter is that Miller had a wide open layup and Rondo nailed him in the face in order to alter the shot any way he could. Was it classless? Who CARES! Miller missed both free throws so it worked didn't it? If Miller wasn't the slowest individual on the planet this might have been a different story.

Now the refs have been absolutely terrible this series. They call ticky tack fouls but let obvious hacks go by. It has been equally bad for both ball clubs. Good teams play through it and win in spite of it. People need to stop bitching about the refs. They are going to do what they are going to do. Just play the game.

On another note, I want the bulls to win simply because i want KG to lose. I can't stand this guy. He sits there and cusses out the bulls after your team BARELY squeaks out two wins on your home court. Yeah, you have room to trash talk. The dude is a fool. My other observations from the game are that Pierce and Rondo are amazing. These guys are winners. And I think the bulls are growing up little by little through this series. It's only going to help them in the long run. And I am a bulls fan by the way.

Ben Gordon will never in his Life win an MVP of any kind. No dis to him because I like him a lot, but he'll never win an MVP. and he's not nearly as clutch as Pierce. Pierce has been doing this all his career. Ben Gordon hasn't even been a conistent starter in this league yet.

I'm shocked to see the only people claiming it wasn't a flagrant are Celtics fans

these playoff games for the young BULLS are what the Dr. ordered. u can't teach playoff intensity in practice. as for VDN, leave 2 mental migets in the game not 3. put in thomas or miller please.

rulebook: A flagrant foul is a serious contact foul involving unnecessary and/or excessive and/or intentional contact in sport.
mcm: The only one close would be excessive. Unnecessary is a stupid part of the rule.
yeah, the nba and it's rules are stupid! great arguement. excessive? knocking a tooth out, check? intentional: see picture and notice clearly he is not going for the ball but trying to hook a Brad.

BTW, why the hell isn't Orlando getting any slack for being up 3-2 against Philly in their series?

conar said...

Because I dont think anyone is buying what Orlando is selling. A team that lives by the 3, dies by it. Hell, if the Celtics can get pass the Bulls I see them beating Orlando.

God I wish Rondo didn't hit Miller in the face... usually there some good conversation on here. Tonight it's just the dumbest Bulls fans around complaining about a foul that wasn't flagrant.

oreed8 said...

see the thing about the Bulls to us Bulls fans is very simple....everybody thought the Celtics will just sweep or win in five very easily against the Bulls you know...now everybody is shocked about how good we really are. We will be getting Luol Deng back in the playoffs if we can make a RUN. We can give the Cavs a real scare just like we have done to Boston & ruin these ANNOYING blatters about Cavs & Lakers Finals over & over again when you never know what's going to happen!

bulls in 7!!!!

msutter13 said...

Whatever Bulls in Seven instead of Six. It was the refs fault and wouldn't care but Celtics team is classless. Whole Bench screaming obscenities at the Bulls after Miller missed his freethrow which was clearly a flagrant. You've been there before so act like it Boston. LOW CLASS TEAM

cubsandTigers said...

Paul Pierce drove to the hoop and elbowed Noah in the Face and made the basket and got the call fouled on Noah.. I still complained and so did other people.. I dont think this was that bad officaitng when you compare the teams.. However the timing and the inconsistentcy was truly pathetic. I hope none of these guys ref the game in Chicago ON THursday.. Call the game consistent!!!

Bulls fans should be thanking Rondo. It was a dumb foul. Brad Miller had already launched his air ball layup when Rondo raked his face. In other words, if Rondo pulls up and doesn;t hit Miller, Miller's ball floats in the air and time expires. Rondo foolishly gave the Bulls a chance to tie it

doorstop said...

Thats partially true. But in real time speed, Rondo had no way of knowing if Miller would miss or not. He had to foul and he had to foul hard. Its unfortunate that Miller got all jacked up like that....wait, no it isnt....but it was clearly a play on the ball and not flagrant just like has been explained multiple times now by the analysts

tysoncurry said...

It's rare and even Tony Parker misses some jump shots-when you don't have it as a teen-ager. Rondo will never shoot like D-Will or CP3, etc...

tyc said...

Big Baby was a beast in college....he didn't have a jumper. Must have been working on it all of last year knowing he can't play the way he did in college because he has limited verticle ability. I have to give it to big baby. I like his game. Don't know if you guys will be keeping him though. His contract is done after this season and your already going to sign powe and you guys don't really have that much money to spend. With his playoff performance his price is going up with every game.

With being down 4.. Ray Allen needs to step up for the Celtics for them to win this game... Rondo and Big Baby have been the stars so far for Boston this series.. Hopefully Pierce doenst get Hot.. DO IT BIG BEN.. GO for 15 this quarter.. lets take this Home up 3-2 !!!! GOOO BULLLLLLLS
