The balloting is over and the debates can begin as LeBron James has been named the 2009 NBA MVP taking a 90.1% of the first place votes and it shouldn’t have been that close. LBJ truly separated himself this year from the rest of the league and the Cavs going 39-2 at home en route to the league’s best record, even addresses the “best player on best team” arguments. On top of that he finished in the Defensive Player of the Year balloting almost netting the ‘daily double’. Kobe (1.7% first place votes 698 total) and DWade (5.8% 680 total) we more in the office cooler competition than in contention to win the actual vote, but when you think about it Kobe did have the best supporting cast in the NBA and the Lakers would not only be a playoff team but a top four seed with out him. DWade can make an argument that he was more “valuable” to his team as the Magic are back in the lottery w/out him. Where there is a huge argument is how can you vote before the whole thing is over? A true veteran knows when to turn it on and when to save energy. If Kobe takes his game to another level over the last two rounds on the West and LA wins the Finals you may want to start counting hanging chads because at the end of the day, it should be the best player on the best team right? Who should be league MVP? Let us know here and in the NBA Team Rooms and chat rooms.
