Lakers’ season has a familiar ring to it

The final series total of 4 games to one will look like most of the pundits predicted and a few years from now no one will remember how competitive this series really was. If a couple of balls (or tips) go the Magic’s way they could have been even or perhaps up at one point. Of course, you still can’t tell a Detroit Piston fan that if the Lakers All-Star back court of Magic Johnson and Byron Scott would not have gotten injured they would have one banner less, even though LA was 11-0 going into that series. Keep in mind they don’t show who you beat on the ring, or the score, just a bunch of diamonds and your slice of immortality. With that said the Lakers did dominate this season from start to finish and deserve all of the kudos and accolades that come their way. Firstly, they won 65 games by any normal standards and sick record winning nearly 8 of every 10 games played. They were only behind one time and in one series, the Rockets, who proved to be their toughest competition of the entire post season. They had a winning record against every team in the playoffs except the Magic, the eventual runner-up. Oh yes, and they have the best player in the world right now in Kobe Bryant (who finally has his ring without Shaq and can ask him how that taste), and the best coach of all time in Phil Jackson. Quite the turnaround for Mitch who was scheduled for ex-communication just three years ago, now is revered as on of the best in the business. There is a dark GREEN cloud that still looms as they are still down 2 in the “millennium standings” but with a young nucleus and money to spend, they may be around for a while. So, while everyone has now officially ‘gone fishin’’ the chess match of negotiations begins, as teams position for 2010 which will be the most talked about free-agent signing period of all time. Where does this place the Lakers/Phil/Kobe in the all time rankings? Let us know here and in the NBA chat rooms and team rooms.

What did i say to all you jejune Orlando Magic fans!!! The Magic have been exceedingly over rated throughout the course of this NBA season!!! The only reason the Magic domineeringly defeated Lebron and company, was the horrific guard match ups, which clearly was in favor of the Orlando Magic simple because of the size advantage. Its unambiguously obvious if you compare and carefully evaluate the shooting percentage of the Orlando Magic in the semi finals opposed to the illustrious NBA Finals. Where as Kobe being the grand Kobe that he is, typically, characteristically, classically, naturally, sterotypically, habitually and predictably
stole the luminous spot light which he absolutely deserve. MVP MVP MVP of course it the foregone conclusion of the majestically bottomless skills of KOBE. He's the true King , Lebrons the marginal jester, and Wade is valiant, heroic prince!!!

GREAT ARTICLE SUMS UP OUR BELOVED FRANCHISE!

The real America's Team has won the NBA championship.
The Lakers beat Orlando 99-86 on Sunday night, and long before the outcome was determined, thousands of fans wearing Kobe Bryant jerseys were loudly singing the praises of the visitors from L.A.

Don't you love it? Or do you hate it?

For better or worse, when the Lakers win it all, it all feels grander.

Dynasty is a word too casually dropped into sports conversations where it doesn't belong, but here's the true meaning of enduring dominance: In 61 NBA seasons of doing business, the Lakers franchise has appeared a nearly unfathomable 30 times in the Finals.

From George Mikan to Jerry West, through the Showtime years of Magic Johnson, and now with Jackson giving guidance to Bryant, the Lakers never, ever go away. "You can't write the history of basketball without the Lakers uniform," Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said.

This is the 15th NBA championship for the Lakers.

How long before the next title? "You always feel the pressure of working for the Lakers franchise, as a player, a coach or in management. It's always there. We're used to winning. And it keeps you on your toes," said Kupchak,

I've got about another 35 minutes to celebrate this championship. Better hurry," Kupchak said. "Then it's back to work."

A dynasty never sleeps.

There should be no debate anymore lakers owned the decade, 4 titles 6 finals, they by far surpassed the patriots, lakers are all set up to dominate the next decade as well, can we say new dynasty in the making, all we need is to get either odom or ariza to resign if not both, i gotta believe Ariza is almost a lock being from LA and going to UCLA playing for lakers must have been a childhood dream as it is for all kids who grow up in So Cal. Odom is eager to resign at a lower amount and if this happens there will be no stopping the lakers. Also bynum will have a full off season to get stronger without having to spend to much time rehabbing, a full off season regaining his footwork. Its a fun time to be a laker fan

Careful. It is a fun time as a Laker fan, but there is no automatics. I can see this group, if they hold together, winning another title or two. A big part depends on the resigning of Ariza and Odom and how they handle the PG situation... Fisher is great, but at 34, his legs are not where the team will need them to be for these long runs.
